A life-changing moment: I was in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake, and spent time afterwards learning what “community” really means, as I worked on recovery efforts in Colonia Morelos. Mexico City’s post-earthquake community organizers built a mass movement that led to major political change in Mexico.
